A new French speaking general secondary school will open in Brussels in September 2019. This project is carried out by people involved in associations in Brussels, by former Jesuit students and by the Society of Jesus, in dialogue with the Archdiocese of Malines-Brussels.

Matteo Ricci College will be able to accommodate more than 800 students. The school will be part of the network of Jesuit colleges in French-speaking Belgium, which already includes 9 Organizing Authorities. Matured over the past four years, this project is a response to the urgent need to build new secondary schools, particularly in areas of high demographic tension. This new school will aim to offer young people from surrounding or more distant neighbourhoods (thanks to good accessibility), especially those of the multicultural crescent of Brussels, a quality education, in keeping with the tradition of Jesuit pedagogy.

This, implemented in all the schools of the Society of Jesus, is based on five key points: attention to each student with personalized accompaniment, student empowerment through emulation and mutual support, a benevolent view of the world, a commitment to social justice, the development of inner life and spirituality.

The specificity of Collège Matteo Ricci will be to offer personalized and innovative support and guidance to all students. A wide range of support techniques, the organization of a differentiated first degree, special attention to multiple intelligences and students with special needs will be some examples.

The college will develop language learning, particularly through linguistic immersion. He will focus his teaching on a knowledge centre, a real nerve centre of the school, allowing the most innovative learning to prepare his students for the societal disruptions caused by the digital revolution and the challenges of a society where learning is no longer the same as before.
