Preparing for mission

“The call is to share the life and mission of Jesus Christ. … To accept that call … means being transformed into authentic followers of Jesus and active members of the Church and the Society that serves the mission in collaboration with so many other persons.”

The formation of a Jesuit starts with a two-year novitiate programme and continues with different studies in Philosophy, Theology and, at times, other fields of expertise. During the years of studies there are also many experiences of volunteering in social work, teaching in schools and sharing faith at the frontiers of our society.

There are European networks for Formation Delegates and Novice Masters who share best practices in the formation of Jesuits in Mission. In addition, each year, EJIF – the network of Jesuits in Formation - gathers young Jesuit delegates from each province in Europe to share their experiences, their prayer and their dreams for the future.
