Eating cassava tortilla, crocodile and mango croquettes, buffalo carpaccio, Attiéké; Ndolé with meat or Fufú of yam with soup of Okro is to try the dream of young Africans who arrived in Spain dreaming of a better future. Tasting that dream is to support ElMandela , a restaurant of sub-Saharan African food, a social project of the Jesuit social sector in Spain, which seeks to train and employ young Africans in the foodservice business.
The restaurant is located in the heart of Madrid and is one of the projects of Amoverse (an insertion Company of the Jesuits). It is a great training and employment opportunity for young Africans who came to Europe looking for a better future. As explained by his manager, Fr Francisco Àngel, "the restaurant offers the opportunity to learn how to cook and show the African values".
There is a personalized accompaniment process. At the end, the person is prepared to work as a waiter or kitchen assistant in the labor market and his place in ElMandela is occupied by a new boy.
On Monday, February 20, on the occasion of World Day of Social Justice, with the help of the social company AUARA, ElMandela launched the campaign #cookingisdreaming with a video of the Master Class that the prestigious cooking school Le Cordon Bleu Madrid imparted to the restaurant team. Watch the video and if you come to Madrid, do not stop dreaming about the El Mandela menu: http://www.elmandela.es/
