The Department of Continuing Education of Boston College and the Arrupe Center of Valencia (Spain) have joined forces to share ten video classes on the theme of discernment in our time that the expert in Ignatian spirituality, Toni Catalá, left recorded before his death (August 2021).

For Ignacio Dinnbier, director of the Arrupe Centre, making this free course available is "a great opportunity to approach the legacy left to us by Toni Catalá, whose death came as such a surprise. The recorded videos display a whole magisterium on spiritual discernment that we offer with immense gratitude for Toni's life". This project has been made possible thanks to the involvement and encouragement of the Venezuelan theologian Félix Palazzi, professor of Theology at Boston College.

With the presentation of these videos, we want to remember our colleague Toni Catalá SJ, who dedicated his life to teaching the art of spiritual discernment. Throughout the video classes, Fr Catalá SJ explains how discernment is the search for the passage of the Spirit in our lives, in a specific time, space and reality. Therefore, this course aims to offer the basic tools to learn the dynamics of discernment in our current personal, social and ecclesial context.

The course is completely free of charge and will take place online. Being asynchronous, each person can do it at their own time for 10 consecutive days once the course has started. At the end of the ten days, the video classes will be available until 17 April.

The course will run from 27 March to 6 April 2022 and the deadline for enrolment is this week. In the first days of the launch, more than 4,000 registrations have already been received.
