Jesuits and Partners in Mission looking from all over Europe to Rome.

Today we present answers of two Jesuits in the field “Promoting Justice”.  If you also want  to participate, leave your message in our Facebook page.

GC36 from... Madrid (Portugal)

Alberto Ares SJ

1. What is your message for our new Father General?

Help us to be close to Jesus and his preferred ones - the poor - help us to go forth in a spirit of service to the Church, courageously, with a universal gaze, with broad shoulders, with an open mind and a big heart. And encourage us to laugh at ourselves and with others. We are by your side.

2. Concerning your apostolate and mission in Spain, what are your hopes and wishes for GC36?

May GC36 help us to renew our mission and spirit of service from a universal perspective. In our contemporary context, the reality of human mobility at the global level presents a challenge which demands stronger commitments and requires resilient and transformative responses. God grant that we might put ourselves at the service of the suffering reality, with clearly organized institutional and collaborative structures with a strong mandate.

GC36 from... Nador (Morocco)

Javier Montes SJ

1. What is your message for our new Father General?

Firstly, I would like to thank Father General for accepting such a demanding service. We are living in a time of fast and global changes, in which - in the north - the Jesuits keep diminishing and are, therefore, faced with decisions regarding our presence. My desire is that he is able to lead and accompany us in the discernment of which places, with which people and in which ways the Lord is calling us.

2. Concerning your apostolate and mission in Morocco, what are your hopes and wishes for GC36?

In Nador we are in a clear south frontier between Europe and Africa. A frontier where you can find, on the one hand, the hopes and dreams of those coming from the south in search of a better and brighter future and, on the other hand, the injustices of a system that lifts walls, that abuses, that marginalizes, and that wants to leave out the poorest. I would like for the GC36 to drive the mission of the Society in all the different frontiers of our world to update what it is to be a jesuit and our mission.
