Jesuits and Partners in Mission looking from all over Europe to Rome.

While in Rome the 36th General Congregation is preparing the election of next Father General of the Society of Jesus we would like to give another perspective from other Jesuits and Partners in Mission who are working in different countries of our Conference territory. We have asked them to answer to two questions:

1 What is your message for our new Father General?

2 Concerning your apostolate and mission in London, what are your hopes and wishes for GC36?

Here we find answers of three Jesuits in the field “Finding God”. Here there are some answers. We will publish more each day. If you want also to participate, leave your message in our Facebook page.

GC36 from... Miskolc (Hungary)

Erno Nagy SJ

1. What is your message for our new Father General?

Please, help us to be men of consolation for others!

2. Concerning your apostolate and mission in Miskolc, what are your hopes and wishes for GC36?

My hope is that the Jesuit communities remain important missions by themselves (ad intra).
I also hope that the Brothers of the GC36 will strengthen the heart of the Society.
I wish that the GC36 can help Pope Francis in his efforts.

GC36 from... Siberia  (Russia)

Sebastián Prieto SJ

1. What is your message for our new Father General?

That he and the Society of Jesus do not forget about those of us who are at the frontiers of the Society as well as of the Church. That they do not leave us forsaken, that him, being our General Superior, risks leaving the vast majority of the sheep that are in the centre to care for the ones who are far from the flock. I also ask him to collect the instruments for a new evangelisation that are on the table but covered in dust: music, painting, theatre, literature, dance, in short, all of those arts that the Society of Jesus once used to evangelise other cultures.

GC36 from... Namur (Belgium)

Christophe Renders SJ

1. What is your message for our new Father General?

Dear Father General, first of all thank you for accepting this service!  You may count on my prayer. Help us to appreciate our diversity in the Society of Jesus while caring for our unity. Encourage us to be creative unfolding the Ignatian charisma to be faithful to the mission of reconciliation that has been untrusted to the Society.

2. Concerning your apostolate and mission in Namur, what are your hopes and wishes for GC36?

I wish and hope that GC36 will develop and deepen, in a few inspiring words, the link between Ignatian spirituality and the mission of reconciliation of the Society that has been well designed in the previous GC. How our personal and community relation to Christ may give a specific shape to our ministries in the fields of education, social and refugee work, ecology, research, youth pastoral, etc.
