Bishop George Lungu, President of the Zambia Episcopal Conference has been awarded the statuette "Heart without borders" for his services to the mission, during the ceremony crowning the XI Days of Cardinal Adam Kozłowiecki SJ, which took place on 30 September at Huta Komorowska .

The ceremony dedicated to the great missionary of Africa Cardinal Adam Kozłowiecki SJ began with the Holy Mass celebrated in the place of his birth, where the museum is now located in the reconstructed part of the family palace. The Eucharist was presided over by Bishop George Lungu. It was concelebrated by Bishop Krzysztof Nitkiewicz, Bishop Edward Frankowski and numerous priests.

The common prayer was attended by representatives of local authorities, management and friends of the "Heart without borders" Foundation, sister Regina Mulenga, director of the Cardinal Kozłowiecki Hospital in Lusaka and the Sisters of the Old Town Sisters who serve in the orphanage in Kasisi, Zambia.

Bishop Krzysztof Nitkiewicz thanked for cultivating the memory of Cardinal Kozłowiecki, who shows invariably what every Christian should be, let alone a priest. At the same time he expressed the hope that among the priests of the Diocese of Sandomierz there will be people willing to work in Africa.

The homily was delivered by Father Jakub Kołacz SJ, PME Provincial, who pointed out that one of the characteristics of Cardinal Kozłowiecki was the ability to throw out from the heart the injuries resulting from the humiliation and wounds suffered and the ability to joyfully and gratefully live out his vocation at every stage of his life.

"Cardinal Adam Kozłowiecki was a perfect example of how, after experiencing the enormity of evil and suffering, to be able to look cheerfully at life and enjoy every moment of his life. He is also able to convey this enthusiasm and joy to others. Already after his cardinal appointment, he often repeated that there was nothing great in him, not even growth. He constantly thanked God for what he had and for the good that could be done through human hands," said Fr. Kołacz.

At the end of the Holy Mass, the President of the Zambian Episcopal Conference stressed that the person of the outstanding missionary brought Zambia and Poland closer together.

"Cardinal Adam Kozłowiecki was a great friend of poor people and devoted his life to them. Zambia appreciates this very much. Monuments are often erected to great people. The commemoration of Cardinal Kozłowiecki is a hospital named after him, which operates thanks to the openness of many people's hearts," emphasized Bishop George Lungu.
