The restructuring of the Seminary and the Theological Faculty in Naples is in its final stages. The infirmary will betransferred to Posillipo.

The renovation of the building in Via Petrarca, Naples hosting the Campano Seminary and the San Luigi Quarters of the Theological Faculty of Southern Italy carried out in collaboration with 14 Dioceses of Campania is almost completed. The next academic year will therefore commence in the refurbished premises. In autumn, the refurbishment of Villa San Luigi which is also situated in Via Petrarca and which is partly occupied by the offices of the Faculty, will continue.

After a process of consultation with various groups within the Province and the Superiors of the Campus in Naples about the future of this property, Fr. Provincial decided to move the infirmary currently located in the confines of the Gesù Nuovo to Posillipo. Another area of the building will consist of rooms and spaces for groups, which can be used for spiritual accompaniment and formation. “When the works are completed,” Fr. Matarazzo states “we will then be present in Posillipo with a variety of our works and activities that confirm the decision to consider this place as strategic for the presence of the Jesuits in Naples in the coming years”. In view of the transfer of the infirmary, scheduled for the summer of 2020, a reflection on the optimization of the use of space in the complex of the Gesù Nuovo of Naples is planned so that it can be made more adaptable for future needs.
