Yo soy Tierra de Acogida” campaign

Celebrating the World Refugee Day, the social Works of the Spanish Jesuits have released the campaign #YoSoyTierraDeAcogida to support the text “Refugees must be welcomed”
This campaign intends to ask politicians to arrange welcoming policies and defend human rights. The Jesuit social works promote “Hospitalidad” to celebrate June 20, World Refugee Day. This campaign wants also to support specific cooperation projects to be “welcoming land” and a better education to prevent racism and xenophobia.

Given the rejection response that Europe is giving to refugees and displaced people, this campaign has raised the voices of the refugees to tell their story: why, when and how they left their homeland.

They were:
-Juan María (false name to protect his identity), Guinean teacher living in Spain. He is waiting for 7 years a resolution for his asylum application.
-Mohannad Doughem, a syrio-palestine engineer and musician. He came through the Melilla border. He went to Sweden to meet his family but was sent back to Spain by the Dublin Convention. Now his asylum application is pending and he lives in Seville.
-Ana María and Natalia (false names to protect their identity). Mother and daughter who fled Central America because of persecution and threats from gangs. Living in Spain with a rejected asylum application.
-Amira Al Zein, Director of the School Telyany of JRS in Lebanon. Syrian refugee in Lebanon.
