The Jesuit schools network in Catalonia, Jesuïtes Educació, has presented the first evaluation of the Horizon 2020 innovation project. Horizon 2020 began on September 2014 in several schools. This first evaluation measures the impact on the students and teachers of the implementation of a New Intermediate Stage - which covers students aged 10 to 14 years. The results show important improvements in classroom climate and collaborative work. The academic results remain high.

The evaluation has not been only for academic results but for non-cognitive skills, much more complex and difficult to measure. The question is how the new educational model impacts on the mental frame of the students, their way of thinking and learning and, ultimately, the model of person inspired by the Jesuit schools: conscious, competent, compassionate, committed and creative people.

The conclusions of the research show a greater capacity and predisposition for the collaborative work. More creativity and autonomy. Other aspects that stand out are a greater capacity of personalization and adaptation to the different rhythms of learning of each student, as well as the force of the learning between equals. It also reveals an improvement in communicative ability and participation.

Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Northwestern University of Chicago and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences of Buenos Aires have evaluated the process. They have applied different methodologies and compared the results obtained by the students enrolled with this new system and others who follow traditional schooling.
