How to talk about God today?

The 3rd International Conference on ‘Philosophy of Religion in East and West’ took place from 30 April to 2 May.

This year the conference was hosted by the Orthodox Theological Seminary in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The central theme of this year's conference was the relationship between religion and post-secularism. For more details, see krakowmeetings.ujp2.edu.pl

The conference enjoys great prestige, as evidenced by the number of papers presented (almost 60) and the countries from which the participants came (the United States, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan). The vast majority are renowned specialists in the field of philosophy of religion. In addition to providing an opportunity to share research, the conference is also a platform for exchanging ideas and building relationships.

The idea for the series was born four years ago during guest lectures by s. prof. Teresa Obolevitch (Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow) in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) and discussions with local Jesuits. Sister prof. Obolevitch remains the driving force behind this event. The Society has been involved in the conference since its inception in 2023, which took place at the Jesuit Centre in Issyk-Kul. Last year it continued in Almaty (Kazakhstan).
