The group of formators on Ignatian Leadership and Discernment in Common and Apostolic Planning met again this year, in person, from the 24th to the 27th of June, in Paris. Members of the group have been organising formations for the JCEP in this area, namely, the two Ignatian Leadership Programs in January 2023 and January 2024 in Rodizio, Portugal. They have also functioned as a learning community for sharing and reflecting on the many programs being offered on these topics and on the needs for formation at all levels of the Conference regarding discernment in common and Ignatian leadership. All done within the evolving context of the challenges that a desire to promote and serve a more synodal Church raise.
Even with some last-minute unexpected absences for unsurmountable sudden obstacles, ten people met in Paris, four Jesuits (including the JCEP President and Socius) and six lay people. Two days of intensive discernment with times of reflection, prayer and discussion were complemented also by some lighter moments, like the visit to the Ignatian Paris. All involved in a sheer delight of being together, as these years have built friendships within the group and made possible the experience of companionship in particular projects.
Everything was rightly concluded with a Mass, in the evening of the last day, at the Crypt of Montmartre, the place where Ignatius and the First Companions pronounced their famous vows in 1534.
