The celebration of Ignatian Week has been very moving in the Jesuit schools of the province. For a whole week almost all the schools of the Society of Jesus in Spain have celebrated, prayed, thought and lived a few days in which Ignatian spirituality, the life of St. Ignatius and many other Jesuits and the Gospel have been the centre of school life. This week has been prepared with great care by the Líneas de Fuerza team, which belongs to the Educsi Subcommittee for Pastoral Care of Children and Schools.
Antonio Gordillo, coordinator of Líneas de Fuerza tells us that he is happy "with the feeling of excitement that I had every night when I stopped and checked through the social networks everything that had been done that day in the centres to celebrate what unites us: the love of Jesus seen from the perspective of St. Ignatius". You can check all the activities of the week through the hashtag #SemanaIgnaciana23.
It is exciting to see that year after year the feeling of networking is growing thanks to the effort and involvement of so many people: teachers, families, but also boys and girls who give themselves to live these days with joy. Around 2,800 students listened to the testimonies of several Jesuits who told us how they discovered God's call in their lives, what the daily life of a Jesuit is like, how important it is for them to share their mission with other companions and with the educators of the centres, and how important Jesus is for them in their lives.
Several classrooms from the different zones and foundations have twinned through the networks, having a shared experience in which they have told each other what Ignatian week means to them, what activities they do, etc. Many also had fun participating in the quizizz on the life of St. Francis Xavier, others contemplated and prayed with the photographic exhibition made with the photographs of many of the centres. In addition to the conviviality, prayers, games, tutorials, academic projects, etc?
Gordillo reflects that what underpins this week is to help our educational community, through what we experience during these days, to discover what God is saying to each one of us and as a community.
