From 23 to 25 February a group of Jesuits in formation from the Near Eastern Province studying in Europe, together with the Provincial of that Province, Fr Michael Zammir, had a meeting in Granada. The idea was to bring together the young Jesuits dispersed between Spain and France for their studies, to have a few days together and to be able to share with the Provincial about the progress of the Province. They chose Granada in order to get to know the Muslim heritage in Spain. In addition to Granada, they had previously visited Seville and Cordoba.

The group of Jesuits from the Near East stayed at the Cartuja Community and, apart from some time for spiritual exchange and conversation, they spent some time visiting the city. The programme included a visit to the Granada Campus of Loyola University and its Faculty of Theology, accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty, as well as a fraternal dinner in the Community of the Sacred Heart.

It was an opportunity for them to learn about the presence of the Society of Jesus in Andalusia and in Granada in particular. They were also able to learn about the legacy of Al-Andalus as a historical example of Islamic-Christian relations as well as the work in the field of Islamic-Christian Dialogue carried out by Loyola University through the Andalusian Chair for the Dialogue of Religions (CANDIR). During the days of the meeting, both sides expressed the hope that this visit would strengthen the links and collaboration between the Provinces of Spain and the Near East.
