Franz Jalics SJ (November 16, 1927 - February 13, 2021) was a Jesuit Priest and author of books on Christian spirituality. He developed a special method of Christian meditation combining elements of the Spiritual Exercises with Jesus Prayer.

Jalics was born in Budapest, Hungary. At a young age, he attended a school for cadets. He had a key spiritual experience while stationed in Germany, and after the Second World War, in 1947 he joined the Jesuit order.

He lived 21 years in South America (1956-1977). There, he finished his studies, was ordained and became professor of theology. While doing social work in Argentina in 1976 during the Dirty War in a poor neighborhood, Jalics was captured, abducted and held captive for five months.

He moved to the USA in 1977 and then 1978 to Germany, where he was director of Haus Gries until 2004.
