Dr Anna Rowlands is the St Hilda Professor of Catholic Social Thought and Practice at Durham University. She is also the author of Towards a Politics of Communion: Catholic Social Teaching in Dark Times. On Thursday 23 March 2022, she has delivered a lecture on the relevance of Catholic Social Teaching for these dark times we live in, at the Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice in Gardiner St Dublin 2.

In this interview with Pat Coyle of Irish Jesuit Communications Professor Rowlands discusses the Ukrainian crisis in the light of Catholic Social thought. She explores the context and nuances of Pope Francis’ response to the situation, and the development of Catholic social teaching in regard to migrants and refugees.
