A docufilm on the life of St. Francis Xavier
This documentary on St. Francis Xavier revisits the story of the birth of the Society of Jesus. It starts from the saint’s university years at the Sorbonne and his meeting with Ignatius of Loyola and covers his complete dedication to his mission in the Far East. It is a passionate story with contributions made by Fr. Jean Paul Hernandez. Fr. Ottavio De Bertolis and Fr. Franco Azzalli and is interpreted by Indri Qyteza Shiroka. The docu-fiction is enriched by images of the Church of the Gesù in Rome, where the relic of Xavier’s arm is kept.

Francis Xavier, the "St. Paul of the Indies", originally from Navarre, was in Paris sharing a room with Ignatius and Peter Favre. Sceptic of Ignatius, he wanted to continue his career. What won him over was their common love for Christ. He was sent to India to replace a sick Jesuit. He faced dangers and unexpected events with the poor fishermen of India, the noble intellectuals of Japan, and the unscrupulous merchants. What comforted him were the letters he received from other Jesuits. Entire populations heard the Gospel for the first time. He died at the age of 46, on Sancian Island in 1552, on the border of China.
