A novel about the martyrs of El Salvador.

The author, Jorge Galán, received a prize from the Real Academia de la Lengua (RAE).

He presented his novel all over Spain during this month of November. The novel narrates the murder of the six Jesuits and two collaborators the night of November 16 1989 in El Salvador. The head of these Jesuits was Ignacio Ellacuría. His companions were Miguel Segundo Montes, Ignacio Martín-Baró, Joaquín López y López, Amado López, Juan Ramón Moreno, and Elba and Celina Ramos.

The RAE entitled the book as: "A brave novel that claims the need to raise the voice, as the killed Jesuits did, in defense of the poor. Galán stated that "if the novel is courageous to tell the truth, it is just because we are in a bad society. Truth should prevail".

This novel has provoked in the writer a radical change of life. After the publication in El Salvador, Jorge Galán had to flee his country, threatened by those whom the novel points out as responsible for the crime. He has been in exile for a year in Spain, although he considers it a transitional stage, not a situation for life.
