On 15 September, eight Jesuits of seven different nationalities began their Third Probation experience in Salamanca. Last Friday they were welcomed and welcomed by the Vice-Provincial, Fr Antonio Allende SJ.
Fr Allende shared with them a presentation of the presence of the Society of Jesus in Spain and encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunity of the Third Probation, the final stage of a Jesuit's formation which allows for a time of reflection and prayer. The Spirituality Centre of Salamanca is hosting this experience for another year, with Pere Borràs SJ as Instructor. On arrival, the participants had the opportunity to get to know the city of Salamanca and the most emblematic places of its history with a tour accompanied by Adrián López SJ.
From now on, the experience begins in earnest, and will end on 8 April. The first few days will be devoted above all to getting to know each other and bringing the group together. To this end, each participant will have the opportunity to share a presentation about his or her country and Jesuit Province, the social context and the presence of the Church and the Society. Half of the participants come from Latin America: Dominican Republic, Mexico, Chile and Brazil. The rest are European: a Dutchman, a Spaniard and two Italians. In terms of their field of work, some of them have an academic and theological work profile, while others come from pastoral or educational backgrounds. All of them, Pere Borràs SJ tells us, arrive very happy and well disposed, because they welcome this experience as a gift.
The Autobiography of St. Ignatius, which will help to reformulate and pray over all that has been experienced so far, will be the starting point. From there, the Tertians will also have the support of experts such as Xavier Melloni, José García de Castro, Luis M. Domínguez, Rufino Meana, Benjamín González Buelta, Josep Rambla and Víctor Codina. In the same house in Salamanca they will make the month of Spiritual Exercises, and afterwards they will be able to visit the most emblematic Ignatian places of our Province, such as Loyola, Javier, Manresa, Barcelona or Montserrat.
This year, in addition, the possibility of experiences in different places and works of the Society has been revived, which will take place approximately between mid-February and mid-March, in the final stretch of the Third Probation.
