A dinner at the farmhouse to build a bridge of social and material solidarity with people who are imprisoned or who are experiencing other restrictive measures. This is how Sesta Opera San Fedele, a voluntary association for penitentiary and post-penitentiary assistance, in which the Jesuit Fathers of Milan are involved, intends to promote fundraising to support social integration efforts.

The Association was founded in the San Vittore prison in 1923 and operates in Milan and its provinces in the Prison Institutions of San Vittore, Opera, Bollate, in the Beccaria juvenile prison, in the special ward of the San Paolo hospital and in the Cremona prison.

Its 220 volunteer members provide moral and material assistance to prisoners, run a flat for prisoners on special leave and their families, and have a Listening Centre to assist former prisoners and their families in various ways. In cooperation with the U.E.P.E. of the Ministry of Justice, they follow people in home detention or in Alternative Measures. In addition, three more flats have been allocated to accommodate former inmates in the first phase of their release or sentenced to Alternative Measures.

Every year, Sesta Opera organises training courses for new volunteers, conferences, seminars, photography courses and related exhibitions.

Sesta Opera, born within the Ignatian spirituality, adheres to the Jesuit Social Network-Italy. Sesta Opera is also a founding member of SEAC (Segretariato Nazionale Enti di Assistenza ai Carcerati) and its president is the representative of the JSN at the National Executive of the National Conference of Voluntary Justice, CNVG.
