From July 18 to August 1, 2021. Stara Wieś in Podkarpacie after a year's break due to the COVID - 19 pandemic will once again host Jesuit youth affiliated with MAGIS communities in many Polish cities.

Young people between the 7th grade of elementary school and the final year of secondary school, who came to Podkarpacie (Outer Subcarpathia ) for their annual retreat, missed each other very much. After a year of break and difficult time for in person meetings in parishes they are together again in Stara Wieś to get closer to God through prayer, talks, meetings and fun.

As always, the meeting began with the Eucharist in the Jesuit Basilica in Stara Wieś. At 7:30 p.m. the church was filled with young people longing for each other. The music band beautified the liturgy with their playing and singing, and the sermon to start the spiritual adventure was preached by Father Wojciech Kowalski SJ, moderator of MAGIS community from Nowy Sacz.

This year young people came to experience the retreat and Ignatian Youth Days from such cities as: Bytom, Czechowice-Dziedzice, Gliwice, Klodzko, Krakow, Opole, Nowy Sacz, Stara Wies, Wroclaw - Aleja Pracy, Wroclaw - Stysia.

After the 10-day retreat the two-day Ignatian Youth Days will begin - for the first time in nearly 15 years in a new format. This year the meeting is called "Heart in your hand" and refers to the recently celebrated jubilee of the 100th anniversary of the consecration of Poland to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The national moderator explained the logo. The color red refers to the love of the Heart of God for us, the color green is hope flowing from this Heart, and the color gold expresses the fullness of His divinity.

We rejoice in the presence of our youth in Stara Wieś, so dear for every Jesuit of the South Poland Province. May the Lord God generously bless our youth in their growth through the intercession of our Saint Father Ignatius.

Jan Głąba SJ
