After 1,5 year of renovation, the Hungarian Jesuits’ retreat house, Manréza welcomes spiritual practitioners with quieter rooms, better heated spaces and some minor interior remodelling in the hilly area of of Dobogókő. The spiritual centre offers a wide range of individually directed retreats that provide quiet time for rest, prayer and reflection. These retreats can be four, eight or even 30 day long. The month-long retreat can also be made over a period of 10 months, known as the Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life.  Furthermore, the “Gries Way” of contemplative retreats, initiated by Fr. Franz Jalics SJ, are also available.

During the Lent period, the online retreats – that were developed by the Scottish Jesuits and were translated into Hungarian – became very popular. More than 2600 people followed the daily prayer sent by e-mail, the retreat house’s team guided about 200 people via virtual sharing groups, and, thanks to the social media campaign, the reflections have reached thousands of people on the internet.

In the meantime, the Manréza Spiritual Centre has launched a call for volunteers. If you find joy in serving others, it’s a great opportunity to join the house team for a minimum period of one month. For more information visit the website: www.manreza.hu.
