GC36 from Vilnius (Lithuania)

Vidmantas Simkunas SJ

1. What is your message for our new Father General?

That Fr. General continues to promote province and regional cooperation in planning, guiding and evaluating effective apostolic efforts.

2 Concerning your apostolate and mission in Lithuania and Latvia, what are your hopes and wishes for GC36?

That wider contact, familiarity with various local conditions, and fraternal relationships result in closer union within the universal Society and better service, such as in campus ministry in Lithuania and Latvia at the edge of the European Union.

GC36 from... Gdynia (Poland)

Czesław Wasilewski SJ

1. What is your message for our new Father General?

Father General! I pray for you and I hope that your task in the Society of Jesus will give you a lot of testimonies of the presence of our Lord among us. Please share with us as much as possible that experience so we can see clearer how God's Spirit is working through our work and life.

2. Concerning your apostolate and mission in Poland, what are your hopes and wishes for GC36?

I hope that GC36 will give some insight for our mission with youth and families. I hope also that the language of the documents of GC36 will be understandable for our lay collaborators :)

GC36 from... Manchester (United Kingdom)

Tim Byron SJ

1. What is your message for our new Father General?

Dear Father General, I will be praying that you are blessed with the grace of joy and gratitude, especially when the burden seems too large and the ongoing task of reform too daunting, and when you are facing resistance from those closest. When you are with those who have been discarded, may your tears move all of us to tears and then to prayerful action. Please ask the worldwide society to pray for specific things at specific times - e.g if you have a crucial meeting / or have to make a difficult decision - we should be a prayer factory! Finally be bold and read Yves Congars OP 'True versus false reform'.

2. Concerning your apostolate and mission in Manchester, what are your hopes and wishes for GC36?

I work with a global group of university students here in Manchester. I hope that the Congregation say something helpful to young people who are growing up in a digital age, with all its opportunities and threats. That the 'decrees' or deliberations are transmitted in a way that many of my students can read them or maybe even watch them on You Tube. That we build on the hope, joy and optimism that Pope Francis provides the church.
