Hope.

The statue on the left is called L’espérance. It's one of the bronzes statues of young girls are found in the middle of the European Union Institutions of Brussels, next to the Place Schuman. They were made by sculptor René Julien in 1998.

These are hard times. It seems that all we share now is uncertainty about the near future. The "U" that forms the body of this statue shows however a relaxed time, almost of play, ready to get up, to look far away. Our present-day could be also a time where something new has been born as a result of being paralyzed. Not only do we share the uncertainties of our time, but we can also share hope because we are already getting on our feet by exploring new and creative ways to live in the present. Hope it is better with U, stay with Us.
