1. What is your message for our new Father General?

Fr General, congratulations on your election and may you take up this new service of the Society in deep consolation! A wish that I have as you take up office is that you will help us assimilate still more deeply the orientations of GC34 and 35 so that we can remain true to who we are, as Servants of Christ’s mission, in the midst of the challenges that we face.

2 Concerning your apostolate and mission in Great Britain, what are your hopes and wishes for GC36?

I very much wish that GC36 will strike a note of hope, and encourage us all to trust in the freedom of the Spirit. We live and work in complex social and religious environments; we are sometimes unsure of what are priorities should be. We could easily be tempted to lose courage and apostolic boldness. So I hope the fruit of GC36 will be to keep us open and free from fear, ready to deepen our collaboration with others and to keep going out to the people around us, as Christ’s Ambassadors.

1. What is your message for our new Father General? 

I hope that the new Father General is a man of hearing: of the Lord and all His creation. Inspired by Christ prophet, priest and king, may he also live on that hearing the love to the other as to himself and the collaboration, ad intra and ad extra of the Society, with all men and women that help him to be a server of the Mission of the same Christ, poor and humble, in Church and in the World.

2. What are my hopes and wishes for GC36?

My hopes and wishes for the GC36 are that each elector could be with a free and unattached heart to hear the Holy Spirit in the voice of the other electors and in the echo of the signs of the time, in this world that demands faith, hope and charity in ways of education, justice and spirituality.
