On Sunday, September 15, Eduard López, SJ, pronounced his Final Vows. The act, celebrated in the Eucharist at 13h, in the parish of San Francisco de Borja (Madrid), was presided over by the provincial of the Society of Jesus, Antonio España, SJ. He also counted on the presence of Eduard’s community members and a great number of Jesuit friends who wanted to accompany him in this important step.

During the homily, Antonio España spoke about the meaning of this consecration. It is God who consecrates the Jesuit and the vows "are a counter-cultural way of giving oneself to God and to others". The vows of poverty, chastity and obedience are, according to the provincial, a way of expressing Love: "Love only to God and to the Church; Love only to God, who opens himself to the world and to every human being; and Love only to God, who makes you available for the mission by doing his will, that of the merciful Father".

At the end of the Eucharist, Eduard wanted to thank all those who at some point in his life, past and present, have accompanied him on his journey. A ceremony full of depth and meaning.
