Bgreen //ecological film festival is an ecological video competition promoted by OFICINA – Instituto Nun’Alvres Professional School since 2011, with the main goal of raising youth’s awareness to environmental issues through the creation of video spots.

Every year this competition ends with a Gala where the winners are revealed and the prizes awarded.  The 9th edition of the Bgreen Gala will be hosted in a Vila Nova de Familicão Public Park on june 7^th.

With the motto Blue Home, this year's edition had the participation of more than 450 spots, in different categories, from 16 countries. Passing through Brazil, Colombia, France, Ireland, until Spain, Germany and Norway, several countries were present in this 9th edition.  This year two new countries participated, India and Burundi, extending the gala to two more continents.  This year's theme focuses on the protection of the Oceans and launches an alert for the seas of plastics and microplastics that are discharged into the oceans every day.

Addressed to young people throughout the world between the ages of 13 and 21, Bgreen underlines the need for a global mobilisation on environmental issues, sharing the challenges launched by Pope Francis in the Encyclical Letter 'Laudato Si´' and by Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus for the next ten years, recently announced by Father General Arturo Sosa, sj, especially with the fourth of these preferences, Collaborate in the care of the Common House.

The international BGREEN Gala represents the culmination of a year in which the issue of the environment has touched thousands of young people across the globe. More than a thousand people are expected at this Gala. The broadcast can be followed through the bgreen website with live transmission.

The finalists of this edition will have a cultural program, with the visit to various points of interest in the northern region of Portugal and the holding of workshops linked to the areas of sustainable development, global citizenship, and communication and audiovisual. On 7 June we will find out who are the big winners in the competition categories: the bgreen// ecological film festival Grand Prix, Bgreen Júnior, Honourable Mention, Best Making-Of, Audience Award and Afonso e Luisier Award.

This Gala is a public opened ceremony and it will have an act from ARTAVE’s Orchestra and another from the Groove Monsters Dance Company.
