The Jesuit Publishing House Axioma - Publications of the Faculty of Philosophy has just launched a new book: Studies on Dependencies: Contributions to Practice, in collaboration with the Braga Solidarity Center. It offers essays in Portuguese, Spanish and English. This collection brings together thirteen articles that help to understand the use of substances and behaviors that cause addictions, offering an overview of the problem for a more concrete and specific approach to prevention in a family, educational and community context. With the main theme of the problem of drug use, the book also addresses the addiction of pathological gambling and the new additions caused by the use of social networks.

According to João Goulão, in the prologue: "The approach to the problems posed by the use of psychoactive substances and, more broadly, the behaviors that can cause addiction, itself faces new challenges, especially with regard to prevention. A new paradigm now emerges, maintaining the assumption on which all are based, which is that it is important to reduce the impacts of both the installation of dependence and the consequences of any use. This work, whose authors have accustomed us to reflections of great value for our practice, offers important contributions to the intervention in this new environment. "

This book is organized by Prof. Paulo Dias of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Catholic University of Braga, in collaboration with Professors Álvaro Castillo-López and José García of the University of Elche (Spain).

The index and the prologue can be consulted online.
