The Center for Ignatian Spirituality organizes a retreat designed for young people, 18-35 years old, who are maybe neither great sailors nor great men and women of prayer. This sailing retreat starts on 25 September 2021 and finishes on 2 October 2021. The retreat begins and finishes at Sukošan / Bibinje marina, and participants will have the opportunity to see islands Pašman, Kornati, Dugi otok, Ugljan…

It is not necessary to know how to sail; it is enough for a person to have the desire to learn. It is not even necessary to have unshakable faith; it is enough to have a longing to deepen your spiritual life. The week will be filled with time for prayer, sailing, silence, sharing, and fellowship. Living through this sea adventure and being part of the crew will help us look back on our lives, recognize God’s footprints in our daily lives, and respond to His calls.

Sailing is a sport but is also fun. The life of the crew together often encourages us to have beautiful moments of fun and laughter. Still, we choose a simple crew lifestyle. We prefer a moderate kitchen, anchoring from the marina, and joyful evenings on the deck. The world of sailing can evoke images of luxury or encourage us to be close to nature. These are the means by which we will help ourselves, all in the direction of fidelity to the Gospel. In this way, we will listen to God, allowing Him to speak to us across the sea, Biblical texts, and our lives.

The number of participants is limited to 12 people (6 participants, a skipper, and a spiritual director on each of 2 boats), a maximum of 4 persons of the same nationality (to have a truly international experience). The application deadline is until the vacancies are filled. Prerequisites are knowledge of English because the retreat will be in English, psychological stability, and average physical fitness.
