Stephan Lipke, Tadeusz Drozdowicz and Piotr Kropisz, Jesuits of the Independent Russian Region took Final Vows, in the hands of Fr General, Arturo Sosa, in Warsaw-Falenica on the last day of his visit to the provinces of Lithuania and Poland.


Hervé Nicq was ordained a priest in the Society of Jesus by Most Reverend Georges Pontier, Archbishop of Marseille, at Saint-Ferréol Church in Marseille.

Fr. Claus Pfuff SJ, JRS-country director in Germany, professed last vows at a solemn Mass on Wednesday during the ECE-meeting at Schwäbisch Gmünd. The fraternal meeting allowed Easter to be celebrated as a feast of resurrection and new creation. The strength and motivation that grew out of the common mission of the Order were palpable.


Twelve deacons were ordained in the St. Ignace church of Paris on April 6 by bishop Thibault VERNY, Auxiliary Bishop of Paris. All are scholastics (Jesuit students), and are currently studying at the Centre Sèvres.

Giuseppe, James, Angel, Michael, Nelson, Anuj, Benjamin, Pedro, Lluís and João were ordained deacons by Cardinal Carlos Osoro on February 9 in Madrid, where they study theology. They came from six countries: Spain, Rwanda, India, Italy, Portugal and Malta. Read more


On the 4th January 2019, the last of a series of priestly ordinations of five young members of our Provincie took place in Assyut, Upper Egypt. Amir Adel was ordained by the Coptic Catholic Bishop of Assyut during a concelebrated Mass in which many Jesuits participated. The ordination was followed by a reception.


Students and staff of Stonyhurst College witnessed a very special celebration on Thursday 24th January. Rt Rev John Arnold, Bishop of Salford, ordained Maximiliano Koch SJ to the diaconate at St Peter’s Stonyhurst. Read more.

Artūras Sederevičius pronounced his solemn profession on December 15 in Kaunas, in the presence of provincial Fr. Vidmantas Šimkūnas and of the archbishop emeritus of Kaunas, Sigitas Tamkevičius SJ, and his relatives and friends. 


Eugenijus Puzynia was ordained to the priesthood on December 1 in St. Francis Xavier church by Kaunas archbishop Lionginas Virbalas SJ. Exsultet choir, formed by Fr. Puzynia years ago, sang, and the reception was held in the Kaunas Jesuit School. Eugenijus is already the chaplain of Vilnius University, part of campus ministry at St. John‘s church in Vilnius.


On the 17th November 2018, four novices of the Near East and Maghreb Province, who finished their second year, and are now doing their Juniorate in Beirut, pronounced their first vows. These were Oussama Halim, Houssam Suleyman and Michael Ghobrial from Egypt and Mike Kassis from Syria.
