Giuseppe, James, Angel, Michael, Nelson, Anuj, Benjamin, Pedro, Lluís and João were ordained deacons by Cardinal Carlos Osoro on February 9 in Madrid, where they study theology. They came from six countries: Spain, Rwanda, India, Italy, Portugal and Malta. Read more


On the 4th January 2019, the last of a series of priestly ordinations of five young members of our Provincie took place in Assyut, Upper Egypt. Amir Adel was ordained by the Coptic Catholic Bishop of Assyut during a concelebrated Mass in which many Jesuits participated. The ordination was followed by a reception.


Students and staff of Stonyhurst College witnessed a very special celebration on Thursday 24th January. Rt Rev John Arnold, Bishop of Salford, ordained Maximiliano Koch SJ to the diaconate at St Peter’s Stonyhurst. Read more.


On the Feast of St. Peter Canisius SJ, Friday 21st December, Luke Taylor SJ made his first vows in the Society of Jesus at Manresa House in Birmingham.

Artūras Sederevičius pronounced his solemn profession on December 15 in Kaunas, in the presence of provincial Fr. Vidmantas Šimkūnas and of the archbishop emeritus of Kaunas, Sigitas Tamkevičius SJ, and his relatives and friends. 


Eugenijus Puzynia was ordained to the priesthood on December 1 in St. Francis Xavier church by Kaunas archbishop Lionginas Virbalas SJ. Exsultet choir, formed by Fr. Puzynia years ago, sang, and the reception was held in the Kaunas Jesuit School. Eugenijus is already the chaplain of Vilnius University, part of campus ministry at St. John‘s church in Vilnius.


On the 17th November 2018, four novices of the Near East and Maghreb Province, who finished their second year, and are now doing their Juniorate in Beirut, pronounced their first vows. These were Oussama Halim, Houssam Suleyman and Michael Ghobrial from Egypt and Mike Kassis from Syria.


On Saturday, November 3, the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Father Arturo Sosa, celebrated the Eucharist in the Church of Il Gesù in Rome, during which two Jesuits, Dominik Markl for the Austrian Province and Fabrizio Fabrizi for the Southern European Province, made their solemn vows. Father General recalled that Father Rupert Mayer, whose liturgical feast was celebrated on this day, 


In Heverlee (Belgium) Walter Ceyssens took final vows in the hands of regional superior Fr. Johan Verschueren. A trio of his new community, Lessius, sang and played a moving “Take, Lord, receive” and “Âme du Christ”.


In the chapel of the Fondation Saint Jean de Dieu in Paris in Paris, Pascal Calu has pronounced his first vows, together with Christian Bour (EOF) and Benoît Thevenon (EOF). Pascal did his noviciate in Birmingham, but is studying now in Paris.


On the 6th of October, Sebastian Maly SJ, Clemens Kascholke SJ and Jörg Nies SJ were ordained to the priesthood in Frankfurt/M. by Bishop Georg Bätzing (Limburg).

More than 800 guests - including families, friends and many Jesuits - gathered in the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew.


On September 29 Juan José Aguilar Díez and José María Segura Salvador have taken Final Vows at the Comunidad San Ignacio in Valencia.
