For the first time the two Polish Jesuit Provinces have held “Province Days".
In Southern Poland it took place on 22 April 2017, at the Collegio in Kraków as well as the Ignatianum University in Kraków. It was convened on the initiative of Father Provincial Jakub Kołacz Sr, whose intention was to launch "a new tradition of annual congresses, during which we will have the opportunity to exchange opinions on topics that concern us all but above all to meet in a friendly atmosphere and spend some time together in communal prayer, discussion and recreation ".
The meeting began with a holy mass in the Basilica of the NSPJ, and continued in the Great Hall of the Ignatianum University and education Ignatianum, where the Provincial presented a "Provicial Report". During the afternoon the report has been continued, after which a discussion took place. The last part of the meeting was concluded with the screening of the film "Attempt", made by the scholar Artur Prusia and a conference by Fr. Józef Bremera on friendship with the Lord.
The Province Day of Greater Poland Mazowiecka took place in two locations: in Gdynia on 19 April and in Warszawa-Falenica on 21 April. More than 150 people (about 70 in Gdynia and over 80 in Falenica) attended the meetings. The proceedings both times started with a communal prayer, guided by Father Provincial Tomasz Ortmann Sr. A part of it was devoted to personal reflection on an excerpt from "the Pilgrim's Story", related to the struggle of Saint Ignatius and his companions with their adversity and loss in Venice and their discernment of the way. This element was the link relating to the agenda of the 36th General Congregation as well as the impetus for further deliberations.
The main themes of the debate, provisions, concepts and decrees of the Congregation, were delivered during the meeting in Falenica by Fr. Dariusz Kowalczyk, during which the participants received a manuscript of the speech, which proved very helpful in the following phase of the personal reading of Decrees and the prayerful reflection of their content. A similar introduction in Gdynia was presented by Fr. Ryszard Friedrich Sr.
