The regular October Assembly of the JCEP was, this time, hosted by the Bohemian Province. The participants gathered at the Adalbert Hotel within the premisses of the Benedictine Abbey in Břevnovĕ, from the 10th to the 16th of October.

The main topics of this Assembly were suggested by Fr. General’s address in Lyon, last April: the mission of the Society of Jesus in Europe and the European Formation Centres. The Major Superiors dedicated extended times to prayer, spiritual conversation and discussions in plenary to follow-up and deepen the reflection on these issues. János Lukács, JCEP Delegate for Formation and Mark Ravizza, General Counsellor for Formation, guided the part on Formation Centres.

Michael Schöpf, International Director of JRS was also invited to the Assembly, to present the process for the new JRS Strategic Framework. Cecilia Vaneste, coordinator of the Commission on the Role and Responsibilities of Women in the Society of Jesus, was another guest and, together with Victor Assouad (EOC), shared the results of the survey research promoted by the Commission.

As usual, the first day was dedicated to personal prayer and sharing on the governing responsibilities and challenges felt by each Major Superior, and to the President’s Address, a report on what is happening in the Conference, with news from the life of the Networks, Communities, and Common Works.

The Conference welcomed Thomas Hollweck, the new ECE Provincial and bid farewell to Roberto Del Riccio, outgoing EUM Provincial.

On Sunday afternoon, the group visited the Cathedral and the old Jesuit churches in the historical centre of Prague. Thank you to the Bohemian province, especially Petr Havlicek, for their kind hospitality.
