To welcome those who are joining our university institutions, a new edition of the Basic Training course in Identity and Mission began from June 3 to 7 in Manresa, and will continue from January 13 to 17, 2025 in Salamanca. This course is part of the Training Plan of the Province and is carried out by the different sectors.

On this occasion, the group is made up of 50 participants from UNIJES universities and centres and, as in the previous year, colleagues from the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Braga (Jesuit centre) and from the Catholic University of Portugal have also joined.

During this first week, the training is dedicated to presenting the human and spiritual experience of Ignatius of Loyola, the relevance of his proposals today, as well as the meaning of Jesuit universities in our time. Ildefonso Camacho SJ and Xavier Melloni SJ participated in working on and encouraging dialogue on these topics, with the participating group being organised and accompanied by Albert Florensa Pello Azpitarte SJ and Raquel Sanz. On the last day, the Jesuits Alberto Nuñez SJ (Esade) and Llorenç Puig (IQS) shared reflection and debate with Juan Pedro Núñez (Comillas) and Aintzane Conde (Deusto) on what it means for each of them to work at the university and share the mission.

In addition, there was time to visit the holy Cave and the Ignatian places in Manresa, accompanied by David Guindulain SJ, superior of the community, who with his explanations helped to give context and meaning to what was discussed in the work sessions. He also went up to Montserrat, and in that incomparable setting delved into the experience of San Ignacio. Very grateful to be able to visit and learn about Esade and IQS, centers of some of the participants, who kindly opened their doors and projects, ending the day with a visit in Barcelona to the Church of Santa María del Mar.

The atmosphere and participation, as well as the reflections, exchanges and dialogues, were highly valued by all participants.
