The night of the Churches
On Friday 10th of June the eighth “Night of the Churches” took place in the Czech Republic (as well as in some other European countries). All the Jesuit churches in Bohemia and Moravia were involved in this big event. In the church of St. Ignatius in Prague a record number of six thousand visitors has been achieved. In the church of the Assumption of Our Lady in Brno visitors had a chance to get to know better the person of Fr. Martin Streda SI (1587−1649), a famous defender and spiritual guide of Brno during the Thirty Years' War, who is buried in the church. Other visitors were welcomed by young volunteers from the international community of Living Stones who offered guided tours focused on the significance and deeper theological meaning of Christian art. In the church of St. Ignatius in Prague the “Night of the Churches” was followed for the second time by “Days of Faith”, a weekend of evangelization. A rich program for adults, children and the whole families was prepared again.
