From December 3 to 5, the 13th edition of the Session of Ignatian Studies (SEEI) took place in Fatima, with the theme: "Seeing all things new in Christ". This title is allusive to the Ignatian Year, which the Society of Jesus is celebrating throughout the world, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the conversion of its founder, St. Ignatius. Following all the safety norms required by Covid 19, the meeting gathered more than 500 participants.
José Frazão Correia led the session that gave the motto to the meeting: "Seeing all things new in Christ. The program consisted of various conferences, conversations and workshops. Some of the topics approached were: “Ignatian tools for a new perspective”, “Pope Francis vision of the Church and the World”, “Franciscan inspirations to see all things new in Christ” and "On the Way with Ignatius".
The highlight of Saturday evening was the LabOratório, a project dedicated to creating liturgical music from various musical styles. The concert tried to follow the course of the four weeks of the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius.
"Also Ignatius of Loyola - 500 years ago now - was pierced by a cannonball that forced him into an almost fatal confinement. The convalescence process brought him a progressive opening of his eyes, first in his house in Loiola and then withdrawn in a cave in Manresa. Passing through mountains and valleys - through bright and dark days - he was given the grace to come to "see all things new in Christ," recalls Fr. Miguel Ferreira. He adds "Those days gave to each participant and to the "Ignatian family" an excellent opportunity to find a new look on all things in Christ."
It was a strong time of reunion that reinforced the sense of belonging to an Ignatian community that consolidates itself more and more.
