Preparing for mission
The formation of a Jesuit starts with a two-year novitiate programme and continues with different studies in Philosophy, Theology and, at times, other fields of expertise. During the years of studies there are also many experiences of volunteering in social work, teaching in schools and sharing faith at the frontiers of our society. There are European networks for Formation Delegates and Novice Masters who share best practice in the formation of Jesuits in Mission. In addition, each year, EJIF – the network of Jesuits in Formation - gathers young Jesuit delegates from each province in Europe to share their experiences, their prayer and their dreams for the future.
